Chambers in the Pyramid of King Unas, Saqqara
sketchfab
The pyramid of King Unas, last ruler of Egypt's 5th Dynasty, houses the earliest known examples of the Pyramid Texts. These texts are inscribed on his burial chamber walls, antechamber, and a section of the horizontal passage at its inner end where it meets the antechamber. This ancient literature is the world's earliest religious writing and comprises 714 individual "spells," with 283 of these spells inscribed in Unas' pyramid at Saqqara, Egypt. The inscriptions are painted blue to stand out against the surrounding surfaces. In the western end of the burial chamber, around the sarcophagus area, a reed mat and wooden pole structure is carved and painted to mimic its appearance. This detailed model was created from 260 photographs taken in very poor lighting conditions using a Canon EOS Rebel T71 camera. The photogrammetry software Metashape 1.6.1 was employed to process the images, and several areas of the geometry were repaired and remeshed using Blender 2.8 for more accurate results. Unfortunately, the low lighting conditions resulted in subpar texture quality. These photographs were taken in January 2020.
