Challenge Trophy
thingiverse
In a creative challenge, we crafted an award from a 40cmx40cm alder wood disk. My wife painted it while I designed the intricate text using Inkscape's "text follow path" feature and extended the path for an outline. The DXF file was then imported into QCAD where I added outer and inner circles, which Inkscape couldn't export. Finally, SheetCam transformed the DXF into GCode with a three-step milling strategy: first, a 6mm cutter for rough pocketing; second, a 1.5mm cutter to detail between the outline and text paths; and finally, a 6mm cutter for the disk's precise contouring.
