Chalk Holder (9 mm American Chalk)

Chalk Holder (9 mm American Chalk)

I tried using a few of the other Chalk holders listed here on thingiverse and I gave up on them.

This Chalk holder is designed for use with 9 mm chalk. (I believe this is a standard chalk size in America.) It has teeth near the end that lightly grip the chalk so it doesn't slide around. Then when it is held in your hand the pressure from your fingers tightens the grip so the chalk will not slide. It is easy to slide the chalk in and out when you want. In fact if you push the chalk in past the teeth it will freely slide up and down inside the holder. That is good because some of these other ones listed on thingiverse will get the chalk stuck deep inside and you will break it or the chalk trying to get it out.

If you want me to make another version of this for a different size chalk please ask me in the comments. Tell me the size you want and I will make the change.

Print instructions

Unassociated tags: chalk pen

Category: Art Tools How to print this

PETG Reccomended. It needs to be a little flexible.

If you are going to print more than one I strongly suggest you just print them one at a time. Two problems I noticed when attempting to print several at a time are. #1 Because the print head is jumping from tip to tip all the time occasionally little globs of plastic stick up from the retractions. That glob can get caught on the print nozzle as it passes by the next time and cause a break. #2 I noticed that printing one at a time gives a much smoother appearance than printing several at once. The ones that printed in a batch has a rough appearance that makes it look like it is weak and could snap at any moment. I even had some snap during the prints. All of the ones I printed alone were just about perfect.

In this picture you can see the difference between two that were printed using the exact same settings, printer, filament everything. The closer one was printed with 4 others and the further one was printed alone.

Printing one at a time gives better results.
