According to Hinduism, chakras are energy centres of spiritual power within the body. The first is the root chakra, connected with fundamental needs and desires. The second is the sacral chakra, where emotions and creativity reside. The third, the solar plexus chakra, deals with self-esteem and identity formation. Love, balance, forgiveness, and hope are centred in the fourth, or heart chakra. The fifth chakra is situated in the throat area, and is all about effective communication. The sixth chakra is located at the third-eye position and is involved in spiritual pursuits and connection to the inner self. The seventh and final chakra is the crown chakra, which is about making a profound cosmic connection and is considered by some to be an entry point to other dimensions of existence.
