ChainStay - a bicycle chain holder

thingiverse

Chainstay is a bicycle chain holder that keeps the chain in place when the rear wheel comes off. Chainstay tightens the chain to prevent damage to the frame. Chainstay also prevents the frame from bending (until the printed plastic cracks :) by fixing the distance between the dropouts. The tolerances of the parts are very precise, so all parts can be pressed into place without using glue. You'll only need a quick release to install Chainstay in the frame. Because the self-reinforcing form fit is created when the left and right parts are assembled, the construction is extremely stiff and doesn't require much infill. Use chainstay_spacer_left_135mm.stl for 135 mm dropout spacing (most mountain bikes) and chainstay_spacer_left_130mm.stl for 130 mm spacing (most road bikes). Print Settings: Supports: None Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 15% Notes: Press fits are designed for 0.4 mm nozzles. The quick release hole on the right-hand side part needs to be cut open with a knife (single layer). The press fit surfaces might need to be cleaned and smoothed with a knife or sandpaper before they fit. Combining layers can help print the embossed text cleanly. In the event of a broken A, try printing without retraction.
