A sprocket-wheel, characterized by its profiled design with teeth or cogs, works by meshing with chains, tracks or perforated materials. Often referred to as any wheel featuring radial projections engaging a passing chain, it differs from gears which mesh directly and pulleys that lack teeth; instead, sprockets have teeth for interaction with their counterparts.
