Chainmail

Rewrite of printed parametric chainmail instructions: This project involves creating a sheet of interlocking rings using a 3D printer. The design, created with OpenSCAD, features square rings with diagonal crossings and four corner posts. To begin, change parameters in the OpenSCAD file to export a single ring as an STL or use the included Chainmail 1x1.stl file with default settings of .25mm layer thickness and .5mm line width. Use the multiply plugin in skeinforge for optimal printing results, starting with a 4x4 or 8x8 configuration. Ensure bed is flat and level during raftless printing at low speed, adjusting first-layer thickness as needed. Remove the printed chainmail sheet using a razor blade from edges and consider gluing multiple sheets together by carefully cutting and rejoining rings. The project was completed on a RapMan 3.0 using Ultimachine PLA, with dimensions of a single ring measuring at 7.8mm x 7.8mm x 1.5mm, while the chainmail 4x4 measures 23.85mm x 23.85mm x 1.5mm and an 8x8 measures 88.05mm x 88.05mm x 1.5mm, with slight dimension increases due to printing gaps.
