A DIY bicycle chain whip handle is a simple yet effective design that can be easily printed at home. To make one, you'll need the following hardware: * DIN 933 M5x45 Hex Bolt (3 units) - available at McMaster-Carr (#91280a244) * DIN 934 M5 Hex nut (3 units) - available at McMaster-Carr (#90591A260) * Old bike chain for wrapping around the handle The design includes three different lengths to accommodate various printer sizes: 99mm, 119mm, and 169mm. Printing the 169mm long version with PLA material at 35% infill, 3mm thick walls, and .17mm layer heights resulted in a robust handle that took six hours to print. Initial tests show it's strong enough for regular use, such as swapping out cogs on a single-speed mountain bike. While its durability might be affected by thinner walls or larger layer heights, the current setup appears to work well.
