(chain test with) Chain Chomp
thingiverse
My daughter asked for a chain chomp, so I decided to experiment with making a chain that wouldn't need any extra help. I tried downloading a chomp model but it was oriented in a way that its teeth wouldn't print correctly. This one prints the teeth facing upwards and has them rounded on the inside so they can be printed without needing supports. You should keep an eye on the beginning of the print until the chain is printed out. The chain is the weakest link here, and if one of the early links breaks apart like spaghetti, you'll need to stop the print right away. The main model already has built-in non-touching supports under the chain and around the bottom of the chomp. If you'd rather use real supports, you can try printing the chain_chomp_needs_supports version instead. Printer Settings: Printer: M3D Micro Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: Medium Infill: Medium Notes: This model is self-supporting because I used some extra bits to keep the ball from rolling away. You might prefer to use supports, though. How I Designed It I built this model from scratch using OpenSCAD.
