Chain Projects

As stated this remains a work in progress. Many files exist because I chose to include individual chain links so people can arrange them on their own if desired. These are made in Tinkercad and STLs are created using Slic3r that are then sliced in Cura. Files have been labeled clearly, hopefully correctly, and a few will be pointed out. The picture shows the Heart Ver 2 file after it's been broken apart, it's the larger longer piece. It was printed with links at about 7mm high. The heart file came out in pieces when I got the links moving, it has an interesting pixelated looking heart shape when whole. It was far more stuck together than the Ver 1 file provided, the links have less clearance, a version with cutouts and larger eyes will be made. It may not have broken apart if I hadn't been in the middle of machine calibration and some hardware troubleshooting while it was printing. The smaller piece in the picture is the "Four Walls Linked Ver 1 Works" file. As stated, it works well. Links were much easier to get moving than Ver 2. The version pictured has approx 6mm high links. The Frill Pill files are just now being tested and I expect them to be very nice, except that I'm having trouble figuring out how to make turns with them, so currently can only make a straight line. Hopefully, a picture of them will soon be available. "4x40mmStableFrillPillVerLinkChain" has a short chain of Frill Pill V2 links and is the test file being printed (with a brim). With some work, these could be passable fashion accessories, but for me they're just a novelty and design challenge at the moment. Update: I successfully printed Frill Pill and added a photo. It was a low resolution print (.2MM resolution), which helped prevent it from tipping over but of course means it doesn't look as nice as it could. Update: A horizontal Frill Pill file has been added. Likely needs support more than the 45 degree angle ones. The 60 degree links have not yet been used. Update: Some complete chains for frill pill are now available. "cross" makes a cat or small dog sized necklace. BigVer2Good is untested but may hopefully fit a person, who knows.
