CHAIN OF ANY LENGTH - NO SUPPORT, NO GLUE
thingiverse
I designed this link so it will print either flat on it's side OR standing on edge, with NO support needed. Although I DO recommend using a raft when printing them on edge. The photos explain how I 3D print chain using this link, with no need for supports and nothing to glue. Very simple process. Printing doesn't even need to be paused, because it's so easy to drop a link in "here" while the printer is printing any other link over "there". This link is 48 mm long, 28mm wide and 8mm thick. If connecting these links end-to-end, the links being printed on edge need to be spaced @ 60mm O.C.. If connecting these links side to side, then the two links need to be spaced @ 20mm O.C. Something to keep in mind and adjust for, if you scale this to a different size. Caution: It's a fairly narrow window of time in which to add the first batch of links to the 2nd batch being printed; too early and they might interfere with the printer; too late and the links being printed will be too closed up to insert the first batch of links. But if you're too late, no harm done: Now you just have more loose links to use later...
