Archaeologists uncovered these chain links during excavations at Caerlaverock Castle in Dumfries and Galloway between 1955 and 1966. The purpose of this mysterious chain remains unknown, but it may have been used to suspend a cooking pot above an open flame for warmth and sustenance.
