Chain Guard
thingiverse
We designed a chain/gear guard to safeguard a winch on our robot, as other robots were repeatedly pulling off the chain, costing us valuable points and prompting us to take action to prevent such incidents from recurring. The extruded section near the end was added because we lacked sufficient photos or dimensions for modeling. We needed to attach the plate to a motor mount, so we solidified that part to drill accurate holes upon mounting the guard. A 1/2" hex bearing from Andymark fits through the front hole. The largest sprocket compatible with this design is a 3.4-inch sprocket paired with #25 chain. We've uploaded a STEP file for those interested in downloading and reviewing precise dimensions. Please note that this design was tailored to our custom winch, making it unlikely to work seamlessly with your setup. We're sharing our designs as an open-source contribution, allowing you to modify or draw inspiration from them for your project. We request only that you acknowledge us if you utilize our designs in any capacity. This model is designed by the FRC Team 5347 "The Gryphons." Print Settings: Printer Brand: Prusa Printer: Prusa Mk2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .3mm Infill: 10%, 0% Notes: We sliced the model using Simplify3D, employing two distinct processes to achieve optimal results. 1st process: 10% infill, 2 shells, until the walls began, then cap it and initiate a new process. 2nd process: 0% infill, 4 shells, continuing the model. This design prioritizes dimensional accuracy. Therefore, please adjust the scaling according to your printer's specifications.
