CF-105 Avro Arrow - RL-206 Nose Section

thingiverse

A user in the Facebook group "Avro Arrow" spotted some in-progress images of my full CF-105 model and suggested I create a nose section model of the RL-206 example, honoring the remains on display at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa. They asked me to create this model to pay tribute to that specific plane's legacy. I chose not to model the rear details of the nose section where it was cut away from the fuselage by torches because they wouldn't be easy to reproduce on an FDM printer, and ideally that side would face the back of a display case. This is still a work-in-progress. On Sept 16, 2019 I made some updates: I better reflected the positioning of the fuselage numbering on the museum artifact, added the larger navigator/weapons officer window found on the Mk2 Arrow, and accurately showed the uneven fuselage cut of the museum artifact. Note that the renders haven't been updated yet to show these changes. Depending on interest, I might modify the base to have different text focused on RL-206 and its exhibit, such as "CF-105 RL-206 Remains" or "RL-206 Nose Section".
