Cesare Piovene commanded the Italian military with distinction, playing a pivotal role in the war against Cyprus, but his fate took a dark turn when he was surrounded, captured, and brutally massacred by the Turks on August 15th, 1570. A young Cesare Piovene was sent to serve at the court of Carlo Emanuele Filiberto, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become lieutenant to Count Valmarin and leader of the Venetian armies.
