Human: Ceramic Ornithomorph (bird-like) piece from the Mochica culture (Northern Peru), dating between 200 and 700 AD, featuring distinctive owl-like characteristics, possibly a Tucúquere, widespread in Peru to Chile. Its face rings and two plumage protrusions shaped like earlobes distinguish it from other regional species. The Moche culture developed one of the earliest complex political organizations in the Andean region, along the Peruvian coast and valleys between Nepeña (North) and Piura (South), with temples, pottery, and unique metalwork beauty and complexity. Piece from the Pre-Hispanic Andina collection, seized and entered into MRI (PDI/Chile Customs). The present digitalization, generated by the Regional Museum of Iquique CORMUDESI, aims to provide South American Museums a free access bank for piece recognition, and if applicable, properly documented, initiate a formal recovery process.
