Ceriani Lathe Bellows MOD
thingiverse
This mod to my Ceriani Lathe was created to prevent guides from becoming clogged with chips. The original gasket on the lathe was insufficient, so I purchased a bellows from Arceurotrade (http://www.arceurotrade.co.uk/Catalogue/Machine-Spares/Machine-Bellows/Concertina-Bellows-200mm-x-40mm---Laminated-Fabric-084-030-00500) and built a matching part to attach it to the lathe. All parts were printed with a 0.5 nozzle, 0.25 layer, and 50% infill. The main support for the carriage features two gaskets made of TPU: one between the bellows and the support (a flat gasket) and one between the support and the X slide. This gasket requires patience to insert into its designated seat on the main support. When placing the main support, be careful not to apply too much force on the X slide, which can cause the gasket to become misaligned. Secure it with two 3MA screws by drilling two holes in the carriage. On the opposite side, attach the second support using two 3MA screws on the head of the mandrel, keeping the bellows aligned with the carriage. I built my Ceriani model in 1996, so I measured the dimensions of the carriage before printing to ensure accuracy. However, I'm unsure if these dimensions have changed over time or are still applicable for current production models. The print was made using BQ 1.75 filament at a temperature of 215 degrees Celsius. On August 23, 2019, I updated this mod by creating a new STL file named "Ceriani Bellows Tower Magnetic.stl," which uses the same hole attachments as the original part but features magnetic components for easy removal. This upgrade allows me to attach a spool wire holder to the lathe chuck when rewinding from one spool to another.
