Ceramic Screw Thread moulds
thingiverse
This is a culmination of a project I've been working on for the last year or so. I wanted to create screw threads on ceramic bottles. I purchased and studied Mitchell Spains Book, [Threaded: A Guide to Creating Ceramic Threads](https://mitchellspainceramics.shop/collections/apparel/products/threaded-a-guide-to-creating-ceramic-threads). He goes through the entire process in an analogue manner, using existing machine screw threads, and casting them into ceramic. What I wanted was to create an appendix to his process using 3D printed technology. This would allow scalability, an increase in the tolerance between the threads, and the creation of the moulds themselves in CAD. This is the second output using this process, where some of the CAD has been cleaned up, although still really messy, and a change to the lid design. I'm going to continue to tweak this idea, and use flexible filament to create the master moulds so there is not need for silicone. In the Fusion 360 file, I've included cottles for the silicone, as well as slugs to remain in the master mould to reduce the silicone volume.
With this file you will be able to print Ceramic Screw Thread moulds with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Ceramic Screw Thread moulds.
