Using porous ceramic vessels and natural evaporation, thermal energy is released when liquid comes in contact with dry air, resulting in cooling. This principle has been applied to refrigeration systems such as the "Pot in pot" in Nigeria and the Spanish "botijo." Proposed designs include a main container with cooling water and a submerged metal coil, an air-pressure system for optimal thermal shock, a lower chamber for decantation, solar panels for energy storage, and a self-refilling procedure. The system would consume less than 10% of the produced water and support local clay artisans. Evaporation functionality can be checked using the math equation from Chemical Engineering Education Volume 29 (1995).
