An innovative ceramic extruder is being developed, showcasing impressive results thus far. Check out the pictures for a glimpse of what's possible with this technology. The team has recently added new photos and information to keep you updated on their progress. They have created an extruder based on Unfold's design, incorporating a syringe holder and additional parts for attachment to a printer. Experimenting with various nozzle sizes (0.5mm, 1.2mm, and 1.6mm), they are eager to discover the ideal nozzle for their purposes. A set of 30 different nozzles has been purchased for this purpose. The team has also experimented with varying ceramic mixes, ultimately finding a strong enough mixture for thin walls. To build your own extruder, you'll need spacer.stl, connector.stl, 6mm multiplex, HeadV1 5D.stl (from Unfold: thingiverse.com/thing:28018), Syringe Adapter Head (from Unfold: thingiverse.com/thing:21074), 2x M3 30mm bolts & nuts, 4x M3 25mm bolts, a disposable feed screw (dosieren.de/en/shop/products/cat/consumables/pr/disposable-feed-screw.html), and a dispense needle kit (dosieren.de/en/shop/products/details/cat/dosing-needles/pr/dispense-needle-kit.html). In recent updates, the team has experimented with printing ceramics, facing challenges in adjusting the extruder and dealing with a changed ceramic mix. They've seen improvement since last week and shared new models printed at the Keramisto event in Milsbeek, Netherlands. Using air pressure instead of their new extruder, they showcased objects made by Jo Schoenmakers with a marbled effect when baked. The project is still under development, but promising results are being achieved, with more information and updates to come.
