Centrifugal Pump Impeller Mk. II
grabcad
A replacement part was fabricated for a household centrifugal water pump that no longer had manufactured components due to its worn-out impeller and broken fin. These issues decreased the pump's efficiency, flow rate, and outlet pressure. The new part, FDM printed in PLA, significantly improved these factors without straining the motor. Enhancements included six larger, progressive blades for increased outlet pressure, axial blades for enhanced inlet pressure differential, and a smart debris evacuation system. This system harnessed the low-pressure area behind the axial blades to expel particulate-filled water away from the inner shaft bearings into the main water flow. The impeller face was also elevated to tighten the pump's face and gap tolerance, improving efficiency. Shallow blades on the rear face reduced pressurized particulate-filled water entering the bearing area in conjunction with the debris evacuation system.
