I decided to switch to a centre-mounted chinrest for my violin, but I wanted to test one out before committing to a purchase. To do this, I modified an existing chinrest to be centre-mount and tried it out. It worked well, so I ended up buying a proper centre-mounted chinrest, although I could have just heated the modified one for a while longer. My violin is standard 4/4 size.
