The central console on my 2008 Honda Civic presented two significant issues. It was constructed of rigid ABS injection molded plastic, and the ash tray, a receptacle for cigarette butts, had become worn from heavy use by a smoker. I decided to modify the design by omitting the ash tray altogether and creating a new box with a rubber mat liner to hold loose change. This modification would prevent the items stored within from clattering about while driving, ensuring a smoother ride. This project can serve as a useful reference for others, as its design is relatively easy to scale up or down if needed.
