This is a stunning bronze modern sculpture showcasing a mighty mythological creature, the Centaur, poised for battle despite being partially incomplete. A centaur, or occasionally referred to as a hippocentaur, is a legendary creature with the upper body of a human and the powerful lower body and legs of a horse. A true master of European art, Mitoraj was born in East Germany to Polish parents and initially honed his skills in classical painting in Krakow before relocating to Paris in 1968. Following a life-changing visit to South America, he began exploring sculpture as an art form and subsequently embarked on a series of educational trips to Greece.
