Human: Centaur Light Reconnaissance Vehicle (LRV) - Citadel Journal #15 & #16. As Imperial Guard armies surge forward, reconnaissance units must lead the way to gather crucial information on enemy positions and strengths. To accomplish these high-stakes missions, speed and mobility are combined with the ability to hold their own in a firefight if necessary. Reconnaissance units serve as the eyes and ears of the Imperial Guard army, providing vital details on enemy troop strength, deployment, and axis of advance that would be invaluable without. Modified Chimera and Leman Russ vehicles were deemed too slow and cumbersome for hit-and-run tactics required by reconnaissance missions. To meet this need, a fusion of the firepower and versatility of the Chimera with the sheer power of the Leman Russ was needed - hence the birth of the Centaur Armoured Scout Car. By installing a powerful Leman Russ engine into a shortened Chimera chassis and incorporating a four-wheel drive system, the Centaur achieved the stability and maneuverability required for its high-speed missions. Capable of outrunning all but the fastest vehicles, the Centaur makes those that can keep up pay dearly for their efforts.
