Getting ready for Halloween ahead of schedule! I decided to get my hands on the famous Celtic Skull model and turn it into a glow necklace. After flattening it slightly, I added a hexagonal hole specifically designed for USglow 7mm thick glow necklaces. To my surprise, when printed in a material that isn't too opaque (like glow-in-the-dark green ABS), the eyes of the skull glow when the glow necklace is activated. I ended up with a pretty cool result! I printed a few of these using different materials and settings to see how they would turn out. The pale green one was made with Afinia's glow-in-the-dark green ABS on a Makerbot Replicator 2, sliced with Skeinforge at 100 micron layers. The orange one is colorFabb's Dutch Orange PLA/PHA, printed on an Ultimaker at 80 micron layers using Cura for slicing. And the red one was made with colorFabb's Traffic Red PLA/PHA on a Robo3D, sliced with Slic3r at 100 micron layers. If you like the look of these colorFabb models, feel free to send me a private message for more information. 8/19/13 update: I accidentally uploaded G-code instead of STL. If you downloaded this file before that mistake, please check your files again. The QEC file is a lower-polycount version of the model.
