Celtic Knot Love
thingiverse
I designed a Celtic knot using an online tool at https://hypatiastudio.com/celticknots/. The design I chose was intricate and connected, perfect for printing. The specific type of knot I used is known as a flat knot, characterized by its smooth and even surface. Each strand of the knot consists of 7 facets, providing a sense of depth and dimensionality. The tile size of the knot is 5.5 mm, allowing for a precise and detailed print. To bring this design to life, I used my Ultimaker 2+ 3D printer. The printing process took approximately 7 hours and 6 minutes, consuming a total of 64g of PLA filament. During printing, some support material was necessary to ensure the knot's stability, but only a small amount was required. For those interested in learning more about my design process, I have written a detailed blog post available at http://3dprinting.illustratingmath.com/2019/11/13/celtic-knot-love/.
