Cellphone Camera Box (For Security Apps)
thingiverse
As most may have noticed, numerous security camera apps, nanny cam apps, motion detection apps, and other related apps are available for both OS and Android to repurpose old phones as security cameras. This simple design places the old phone in a box, concealing it among other items on a desk rather than displaying it on a stand. I drilled two holes for charging, one at the bottom and another in the door. I suggest securing this lock (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2107360) to the inside of the door or outside for added closure. Since incorporating it into the design would have complicated printing, I omitted it. For those who prefer a different approach, I've uploaded an outer box with no hinges and a lid without hinges as well. The former allows manual addition of hinges, while the latter is ideal for those who dislike hinges on the box entirely. The case.stl file is specifically designed for the iPhone 5. The hinges were copied from: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:961589, whereas the iPhone case itself is a remix from: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1424868. For Samsung S2 and S3 cases, refer to these links: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:268508 and http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:226464 respectively. Feel free to remix this design into a bird hide or any other structure you envision. The dimensions of the box are 164mm x 108mm x 40mm high, struck a balance between keeping it compact while ensuring easy access to power and volume buttons. Enjoy using your repurposed security camera.
