Cello Bridge

Cello Bridge

thingiverse

This is a precise replica of a wooden cello bridge crafted using 3D printing technology out of ABS plastic. To provide some contrasting test results, two extremely similar bridges were designed with notably different in-fill percentages - ~32% and ~55%. Following their installation on the instrument and playtesting sessions, both exhibits surprisingly similar performance qualities: excellent volume, radiant sound timbre, albeit with a distinctively piercing quality often described as "nasal." A follow-up test featuring an extensively printed 100% infill structure yielded unanticipated outcomes - no significant enhancement in overall acoustic properties. Sound production still suffers from this somewhat piercing defect, casting uncertainty on potential alterations required to achieve more satisfactory performance levels for demanding musical applications.
