For an updated and enhanced version on my own website, visit https://www.designuitinspiratie.nl/celstruktuur-lamp/ Cell Structure Lamp This simple lamp changes color with a playful flair The dimensions are 60x60x90mm printed in white PLA in this instance To create the inside of the lamp, I designed two diffusers. One is printed using the “spiral outer contour mode” and the other is a flat plate that sits on top of the LED's and Arduino. In the images provided, you can see the flat one being used. The reason for choosing the flat diffuser is due to my inability to print the spiral one without warping while still maintaining a single wall layer. However, I'm sure someone else may be able to achieve it. In my case, I utilized two layers to create the flat diffuser, making it 0.4 mm thick. The diffuser helps spread the light and prevents direct glare into the eyes. If the light is still too intense, you can increase the diffuser's thickness by adding more layers, such as three. Alternatively, a diffuser made from paper or another thin material is also an option. The lamp's light source consists of an Arduino Nano and 6 NeoPixels, providing a simple and affordable solution. The Arduino serves as both the power source for the LED's and the controller. These NeoPixel LED's are powered by code run on the Arduino. For more information on how this works, refer to: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-neopixel-uberguide/arduino-library-use. Adafruit has developed user-friendly library's that make it easy to control these NeoPixel LED's. I simply installed their library's and modified one of their examples, allowing the LED's to change color over time. You can accomplish even more with this technology. If you're not interested in researching the details, you can use the Arduino sketch included with the files available at https://www.thingiverse.com/th... or https://www.myminifactory.com/.... I've also included the necessary Adafruit library for compiling the sketch. For guidance on connecting the Arduino to the NeoPixels, refer to the “schematic” provided in the picture tab. The Power Source is a 5V phone charger with a minimum of 1A. This lamp was printed using a 0.4mm nozzle, resolution 0.2mm, three top/bottom and wall layers, and 15% infill.
