A Simple Ambient Light Project The light source is an Arduino Nano and six NeoPixels - the cheapest way to create a light source. To learn more about these NeoPixels, visit the AdaFruit website at https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-neopixel-uberguide/arduino-library-use. I used an example from AdaFruit and modified it slightly. The goal is for the LEDs to slowly change colors. The sketch and AdaFruit library are included in the ZIP file, along with a simple wiring diagram. A phone charger with at least 1A power supply is recommended. This lamp measures 90x90x90 mm and was printed in green PLA, except for the diffuser. The diffuser was printed in translucent PET-G. Two types of diffusers are included: a flat one and a spiral outer contour mode diffuser. A picture shows both side by side, demonstrating that I did not successfully print the "spiral outer contour" without warping. To prevent this, more wall layers should be used, but this would reduce light transmission. I personally like the warped diffuser despite its imperfections. If you choose to print the spiral outer contour mode diffuser, be sure to cut out a small piece for the micro USB connector of the Arduino. The flat diffuser is printed normally and can be customized for thickness. Other materials such as paper can also be used. Pictures show both the flat and "spiral outer contour" diffusers. If placed high enough, this lamp does not require a diffuser. I created diffusers to prevent direct eye shine from the LEDs. Green PLA was printed with a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2 mm resolution, and three wall/top/bottom layers. If you have any questions or comments, please ask!
