cell phone spectrometer

This is a remix from the cell phone microscope made by clarimer. I edited it in Tinkercad. The idea is to make a holder for a diffraction grating, so it can be placed in front of the phone´s camera. A diffraction grating is a piece of transparent plastic that has a large number of very fine lines, very close together. When white light passes through a diffraction grating, each of the colors comes out at a different angle, separating them and projecting a rainbow. One easy way to get a diffraction grating substitute is by using an old CD or DVD. If you peel off the printed part of the disc (where the metal is), it will become transparent and will work as a grating. CDs and DVDs have a spiral of lines where the data is stored. After peeling you can cut a rectangle off the plastic and fit it in the holder with tape or glue. I made a few versions for thicker phones or phones with cameras placed farther away from the border.
