Cell Phone mount using the cubby on a 1999 - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ)
thingiverse
Here is my cellphone or tablet holder for the 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee (which is also called the WJ jeep). It uses a cubby in the dash (see pic) that I think might contain an ashtray in some models. In mine, it just had a little rubber mat. Remove the mat, insert the print --- and vollia! A Sturdy cell phone holder. There are 3 OpenSCAD files. The "SolidMount" file will make the bottom bit that fills the hole. You'll need setting 2 and 3. These are set to print without support, but you'll have to flip over the top in your slicer. The result is a good friction fit into the cubby. The Rod file makes the rod (obviously). You can set the length. If your print bed is 200x200 (like mine) then your max print is 250mm (which is roughly 270mm once you include the ends). Y'know ... C^2=A^2+B^2. Cut the cube ends off. Fitting the rod may require a little light buffing with a file on the holes --- I deliberately didn't leave much slack there to give everything a friction fit. The CellCradle file has parameters for the recline angle and for the size of the phone. Note --- no elastic or springy grips here --- you have a 3D printer! Make it the right size for you in the first place! The rod and CellCradle might be useful with some other bottom for some other car/truck. Go nuts.
