Cell phone microscope adapter for laser pointer lens
thingiverse
This is a simple clip for turning a cell phone into a microscope. The design was inspired by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's model, available at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:667471. However, this version uses a lens from a low-cost laser pointer instead of a more expensive one. To access the lens, remove the top cover of the laser pointer and take out the small black plastic screw that holds it in place. The lens can be easily removed (see image). This adapter allows you to capture high-resolution images or videos of tiny objects. You can see some examples of microscale chemical reactions I captured using this clip on my blog: http://www.xciencia.org/2020/04/05/um-microscopio-no-celular/.
