cell membrane

HI! For biology enthusiasts, teachers, or students who want to make learning a hands-on experience, this 3D printed model is just what you need! As a former biologist myself, I aimed to create a scale-model of a plasma membrane that can be held in one's hand, passed around among students, or even displayed on a desk. Some of you may have requested a sliced version of the model to enable better printing, so here it is! Just slice the file "membrane" into two halves and print each half separately. Once printed, simply glue them together and get ready to admire your new creation! Optional: If you prefer a smoother result, consider using the "polygon divided" file instead. This fantastic 3D printed model includes several important features of a biological plasma membrane: 1. A bilayer model of phospholipids - The building blocks of every cell's outer layer. 2. A symporter/antiporter protein embedded in the membrane - Responsible for regulating the exchange of essential nutrients and waste products across the membrane. 3. Endocytosis/exocytosis sites - Key areas where cells take in and release materials, keeping their inner workings healthy. 4. Helix proteins - An important type of protein that contributes to cell membrane stability. If you print this amazing model, don't forget to share your creation! Your peers will surely appreciate seeing it. Want a custom design or have an idea for something specific? Feel free to reach out to me on Thingiverse and let's bring your vision to life together!
