Celestron SLT Tripod Leg Extension Clamp
thingiverse
I acquired a SLT tripod and discovered that the original clamps wouldn't function due to the tension pushing against the copper insert. To resolve this issue, I reengineered the piece to utilize a 1/4"-20 nut on the interior, ensuring the tension couldn't dislodge it. The metal plate from the original design was reused for added structural integrity. The entire assembly is extremely tight, as it's not designed to allow significant play. To create new bolts, I fashioned them from hardware store materials (1/4"-20 threaded rod and a knob). This redesign was initially intended for use with a Celestron SLT tripod but should also be compatible with other tripods featuring 1.25" upper leg diameters and 7/8" lower leg diameters. In my specific case, the originals were secured with rivets that could easily be drilled out. Fortunately, the new clamp fits so snugly that I haven't yet needed to apply glue or rivets for added security.
