This box is filled with silica desiccant beads, which are then placed into the secondary holder of a Celestron 11" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope for storage purposes. This setup keeps the telescope dry inside and also dries the compartment between the corrector plate and dust cover. After Hyperstar operations in humid areas, I find it essential to use this method. Additionally, I provide a fully parametric file (SCAD) that can be adapted to other sizes of telescopes. Note 1: Although the holes are small enough for direct placement of beads into the box, it is advisable to use a coffee filter or tea sock to isolate the beads as shown in the picture. Note 2: The parametric design has approximately 20,000 nodes and requires a full render to be displayed properly in OpenSCAD.
