Ceiling Rose Base & Cover for Sonoff Mini
thingiverse
The Sonoff Mini is a fantastic, compact DIY Wi-Fi enabled smart switch designed specifically to be discreetly hidden within a light switch pattress. This ingenious device lets you transform any household ceiling light into a cleverly controlled smart-switched light while maintaining control through the original switch. Unfortunately, in countries like the UK, our electrical standards generally prevent them from being used as our light switches typically have only switched live feeds - there's no neutral to power the MCU. However, they can ideally be fitted in the ceiling rose where there is a neutral, live, and also the feeds to the switch can easily be connected. Unfortunately, the Sonoff mini won't fit within a standard size ceiling rose. So I've come up with this brilliant solution. It's a Rose Base and cover designed specifically to house the Sonoff Mini Device (it clips securely into place) - it also includes an earth-post housing into which a standard 5A connector block will fit to provide the required earth binding posts. I've also included some cable strain relief posts so that the chandelier weight isn't pulling directly on the electrical connections. Cable entry hole is included with chamfered edges so cables don't chafe, as well as 3 countersunk mounting holes for attaching to the ceiling. The cover screws onto the base and has a little additional depth compared with a standard cover to allow clearance for the Sonoff Device.
