Ceiling mounted StoveTop Firestop fire exingisher (Single or Pair)
thingiverse
This is hanging brackets so you can hang the stovetop firestop over the 3d printer. You need to add a ceiling hook and have some wires to tie both ends of the fire extinguisher. (Used fishing wires as it is light and strong) The reason I have opted for this approach, is that 3d printer fires are rare and mostly due to thermal runaway issues. Which most firmware has solved already. But there's still a potential for mosfet locking on, which can still trigger a fire but is much more rare. Thus the cost of developing a more complicated preventative system (e.g. smoke alarm hooked to a power relay) is a bit much for me to work out. Especially when compared to just doing regular maintenance on the 3d printer. Thus my safety approach is mostly focused on reactive safety systems like stovetop firestops and the preventive side is done via regular maintenance and custom firmware with thermal runaway protection enabled. This will give me the safety margin I can accept for unattended printing for very long prints. While for smaller duration prints, I have a standard handheld fire extinguisher next to the printer. ---------------- For the ceiling mount, I'll be using this adhesive ceiling loop mount that I made for this purpose
