Ceiling Mount for UO SmartBeam Laser
thingiverse
A custom ceiling mount for the UO SmartBeam Laser micro-projector is designed to be installed upside-down. This unique design allows the projector to be mounted as high as possible, taking full advantage of its maximum keystone correction capabilities. The mount features a 15-degree declination to ensure precise alignment. To connect the two parts, a sturdy 10mm diameter rod is required. Aluminum tubes are readily available at an affordable price and meet this requirement perfectly. Designing the Mount Using Autodesk Fusion 360 software, I created a custom design based on my own measurements of the projector's geometry. A tolerance of 0.2mm was specified for the projector itself, while 0.1mm was allocated for the rod holes to ensure a snug fit. The rod connector on the cradle is strategically positioned near the center of mass of the projector unit for optimal stability. To provide access to the connectors and vents, carefully placed holes were drilled into the design. A slight modification to the extra support structure minimizes its impact on ventilation while enhancing the overall strength of the mount. After initial measurement and design, I conducted a thorough reevaluation and uploaded an updated version of the cradle.
