Ceiling Fan Light Shade
myminifactory
The existing frosted glass shade for my ceiling fan was pleasant enough, but it wasn't allowing sufficient light through. I had some crystal PLA that is quite clear and decided to try printing new shades with it. It worked beautifully! The design consists of three base parts and nine total components, which print out into one base, four shades, and four top lips. There are grooves to securely lock all the pieces together. To ensure a solid fit, I applied a small amount of adhesive to hold everything in place. However, the shades do require some light cleaning or sanding as they can swell slightly at the corners due to their thin print quality, making them a very snug fit. For best results, it's recommended to have excellent bed adhesion and print the shades without support or brim at 100% fill density to minimize any necessary clean-up. If you're experiencing poor bed adhesion, consider using supports or a raft instead, but be prepared for some additional cleaning on the edges to get everything to fit properly.
