Ceiling Fan Knob Replacement

Ceiling Fan Knob Replacement

thingiverse

This is a replacement knob for ceiling fans, attic fans, or fan shrouds that need a new control interface. It attaches to a wall-mounted rotary switch similar to a light switch, but with a rotating head instead of a light switch mechanism. I've installed it on my own setup and it fits perfectly. Whether there's a standard size for this type of replacement knob is unknown to me, so I recommend checking yours before installing. Take out your measuring tape and get an accurate reading. The design of the rotating axle should resemble a circle cut short at two parallel sides. The ideal diameter of the circle is approximately 6mm, while the distance between the truncated ends should be around 5.25mm, give or take about 0.05mm for a press fit installation. Any minor discrepancies in measurement won't significantly impact the functionality. This replacement knob design may spare someone some time and effort when replacing their fan control interface.
