"CEG Extreme" face mask remix with sewing pattern.
thingiverse
The primary concerns with do-it-yourself face masks are breathability, filtering effectiveness, and a secure fit to prevent leaks. One surprisingly straightforward and efficient solution is proposed by Dr. Wiles (see Sources). It's easy to create, utilizing any cloth/filtering material you prefer. This design has been approved "For Community Use" by the National Institutes of Health. My adaptation simplifies the mask by removing the Velcro strips and elastic catch, making it flat and incredibly thin. I employ 7-inch rubber bands and a back strap (see Sources) to maintain everything in place securely. Since sewing isn't my forte, I thought it would be helpful to have a sewing pattern for cutting the cloth and filter material. The OpenScad script to obtain the sewing pattern from the mask is included.
