This is a combination of things I am using for my phone mount in my Honda Fit. It features a magnetic joint that allows me to rotate it easily from portrait to landscape mode when needed. I print out two arm.stl files which stick into the holes in cross.stl, forming the part that sticks into the cd player slot. This part is printed in multiple pieces to avoid weak points and breakage. If you're concerned about strength, printing with bridge nylon or ABS should work well. Plate back and plate front are designed for 8mm diameter disc magnets, small 1 mm thick ones that I bought from ebay. Depending on the material used, sometimes the openings need to be filed a bit bigger. I could have done this with more tolerance, but I only printed it twice so far. The rotation assembly attaches to the cross piece on one side and to whatever phone holder you're using on the other side. My last two phones were iphone 5s and nexus 5x, and cradles I made or modified for them are attached. The iphone one is a remix of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:214854 that accommodates different plugs. These cradles are pretty tight and need to be filed or sanded down for a smooth fit. With tolerance fits like this, I prefer to err on the side of having to remove material. Superglue works well to hold everything together, but I prefer to make everything from ABS and use acetone to solvent weld it all together. The arms should not need any attachment to the cross piece. The intent was that if they broke, they would be easy to replace, but mine have held up so far.
