CD-Rom Motor Pump
thingiverse
This mini centrifugal pump is derived from Madox's design, available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4839. I simplified the blueprint for 3D printing on a MakerBot without support material. Additionally, I adapted it to work with a CD-ROM motor, which many tinkerers likely have in excess. In my photos, a 6V pump is powered by a 3.5V battery, indicating that increased power may propel more water. To assemble, print the Base, Impeller, and Casing. Drill the impeller's center to fit the motor shaft. Cut the casing's support tower with a knife. Place the motor in the casing top, then the impeller on the shaft but leave a gap. Attach the housing, sand the impeller if needed, and finally place the base. Completion takes less than half an hour from downloading to assembly, provided you have a CD-ROM motor.
