So the little blue box is priced at $800-$900 USD, and the cord costs an additional $55 plus shipping and handling. I may create a more solid version of this product for that price point - I feel it's a steep cost, but this shows the incredible power of 3D printing. We've been in need of a replacement Cayston connector for some time now, but our old one still worked perfectly. We've tried to get a new one for eight weeks, but unfortunately, we just got run around instead - I'm not sure why it's so hard to obtain a replacement cord. Yesterday, our service dog in training managed to get its jaws on the connector cord and chewed it up beyond repair. Since I have no idea how long it will take to receive a new one, I used my CAD skills to design a temporary connector and printed it out quickly. The layout is very simple, made for printing with PLA, and all you need is the wire with the connector, some exposed leads from the two wires, and some good old-fashioned electrical tape for strain relief. The wires get twisted into loops and hooked up to the grooves (check out the pictures).
