This is an incredibly detailed and historically accurate lowpoly model of a cavalry saber used extensively in the 18th century. Modelled in Blender version 2.77, this sword was designed with the utmost precision and detail, replicating every feature and nuance of its real-world counterpart. The sabre - commonly spelled saber in American English - is a type of finely honed backsword characterised by a uniquely curved blade associated predominantly with light cavalry from the early modern to the Napoleonic periods. Originally linked to the esteemed Central-Eastern European hussars, this iconic sword soon became an integral part of Western Europe's Thirty Years' War. Lighter variants also found widespread popularity amongst infantry in late 17th-century armies. Fast-forwarding to the 19th century, models boasting slightly less curved blades emerged as a standard feature, particularly amongst heavy cavalry units. However, even with these more practical designs, the military saber continued to play a pivotal role as a prized weapon among combatants. Regrettably, in 1913, the Patton Saber marked the last issue of such an arm to US cavalry troops, whereas Poland's Polish Cavalry saw one final use for their cherished sabre in 1934 - a remarkable achievement immortalised in history. The very essence of this military saber found expression in its adaptation as a duel-wielding force within academic fencing, thus yielding birth to modern sabre fencing - a discipline whose advent during the 1896 Summer Olympics solidified it firmly in sporting annals.
