During the championship of the Deutsch Cup 1936, Caudron's designers focused intensively on improving performance while Renault supplied a robust 12-cylinder V-type engine. Engineers adapted wings from the successful C460 model with an extended bearing journal, aiming for superior speed. Despite these efforts, however, their new contender failed to take to the skies that year, a setback largely due to manufacturing constraints brought about by both World War II and the economic woes affecting the struggling company at that time, ultimately leading manufacturers like Caudron to realign priorities as global events demanded a shift in production strategies.
