This is for the Catrike Dumont WITHOUT FRONT FENDERS. For safety, you need to know what's always coming up behind you. Yes, my Catrike Dumont came with a rearview mirror. However, trying to use the rearview mirror was driving me nuts. I found myself constantly adjusting and fiddling trying to find a comfortable spot. The revelation moment! Our trikes as I am sure you are aware, require rotation of the steering arms to change directions. Unlike two-wheeled bikes and motorcycles, handlebar-mounted mirrors work fine. Turns require a weight shift towards the inside of the turn. Not much rotation of the handlebars. Our trikes on the other hand require a lot of rotation to start and complete a turn. In my opinion, mirrors on the steering arms of a tadpole trike is a bad idea. The slightest input of a turn causes the mirror to move from its best adjusted point. In some situations, during a turn you totally lose your rear sight. Mirrors mounted to a stationary location, like the trike frame is a better option. It allows the best focus point of the mirror to stay regardless of steering input. I set out to mount my existing mirror to a stationary location. To do this I designed an adapter that attaches to the frame and allows the mounting of the mirror using a 25.4mm (1 inch) stub allowing full adjustment and keeps the attachment out of the way of any moving parts. 3D Printer Settings For most any of the parts I print with the idea of them being used outdoors on my trike, I use PETG filament. It is very strong and UV resistant. I use 1.75mm filament from Overture. It can be purchased from Amazon. I’m using a Tevo Little Monster Delta Style printer. The nozzle is 0.6mm. 0.32mm layer height at 250°C filament temperature and 20% parts cooling fan. I also use Gyroid infill pattern at 20%. Print speed is 60mm/sec. I use a small 2.0mm brim. First layer of 0.4mm. I use retraction, 3.5mm at 35mm/sec. Adapter Install Installation is easy. The adapter slides over the Head Tube and is secured using two M4 – 15mm screws. The screws will self-tap into the PETG and hold very well. No nuts needed. Once the adapter is screwed to the head tube the original mirror and mounting bar can attach.
