Catnip Yarn Ball
thingiverse
About ---------- My cat has a thing for plastic, especially PLA. He's developed a taste for its smell and wants to devour it. This sparked an idea - creating a toy for him that he'll love playing with. There's something timeless about a cat batting at a ball of yarn. Printing -------- * The model is printed at 0.2mm. * Print the object with supports in place. * Leave the open end facing up to prevent supports from filling the bowl. * A Fusion 360 file is included, making it easy to edit and customize. Parameters are set for outer wall thickness, catnip hole size, ring thickness & size (adjust these as needed for your specific yarn), and a tolerance for the male plug (change this based on your printer's capabilities). Putting It Together ------------------- * Use an exceptionally long piece of yarn - at least 30 feet. I underestimated how quickly it would run out. * The holes are only meant to help start wrapping; avoid putting more than one line through them, as they should be covered eventually. * Wrap the yarn under previous lines every few wraps. If you don't secure it properly and it comes undone, everything will come apart.
